FR Depuis l’immense succès de son précédent spectacle One Song, qui a fait fureur au festival d’Avignon en 2022, Miet Warlop est devenue une artiste incontournable des scènes européennes. Après avoir présenté son univers décalé lors du TalentLAB 2024, avec After all Springville, Miet Warlop revient au Grand Théâtre avec une nouvelle ode à l’imagination, intitulée INHALE DELIRIUM EXHALE. Les spectateurs et spectatrices peuvent s’attendre à un surgissement d’images qui se transforment au fur et à mesure qu’elles s’abattent comme de puissantes vagues d’émerveillement et de plaisir. Pour cette nouvelle création, où elle assure la mise en scène et la scénographie, Miet Warlop collabore avec le label de musique belge DEEWEE, fondé par les artistes du groupe électronique Soulwax.
EN Known for her boundary-pushing productions that blend visual art, performance, sculpture, and chaos into surreal theatrical experiences, Belgian artist Miet Warlop – who will represent Belgium at the 2026 Venice Biennale – ventures into the unconscious mind with her new work INHALE DELIRIUM EXHALE. Like the ancient Greek chorus that gave voice to the inexpressible, she channels the mythical power of collective imagination through five remarkable performers and 1,500 metres of undulating fabric. The performance unfurls as a whirlwind of movement, where individual voices remain distinct within a dissonant choir of humanity. In our fragmented present – where we gather but rarely connect – Warlop creates a testament to finding unity through beautiful disparities. Each solo becomes a transformation, each gesture and fold forming a secret language that speaks to the space between reality and dreams.
DE Als letztes Stück des Tanzschwerpunkts im Dezember zeigen die Théâtres de la Ville INHALE DELIRIUM EXHALE der gefeierten Choreografin und Künstlerin Miet Warlop, die letztes Jahr bereits mit After all Springville im Rahmen des TalentLAB zu Gast war. In INHALE DELIRIUM EXHALE interpretiert Warlop die Rolle und die Macht des antiken Chors neu. Sie stellt sich diesen als heterogene Gemeinde vor, die all dem Platz bietet, wovor sich die Menschen fürchten oder was sie sich wünschen. Jede und jeder Einzelne behält seine Stimme in diesem vielfältigen Gebilde. Mit dem Chor reagiert Warlop auf eine Gegenwart, in der wir gemeinsam agieren, aber selten eine Einheit bilden. Fünf DarstellerInnen interagieren mit 1500 Meter Stoff auf kraftvolle, dynamische Weise. So feiert INHALE DELIRIUM EXHALE das Individuelle und rückt gleichzeitig das Gemeinsame in den Vordergrund.
