EN For her first appearance at Théâtres de la Ville, Oona Doherty presents a double bill featuring two of her most important works: the solo, Hope Hunt and the Ascension into Lazarus, which acclaimed her as a rising star in contemporary dance, and Navy Blue, an ensemble piece and her biggest production to date, which unwaveringly confirms all expectations vested in this Northern Irish artist, recipient of the Silver Lion at the 2021 Venice Dance Biennale. The opening of the solo act, tackling working-class masculinity, takes place on the front square of the Grand Théâtre and continues in the Studio. After this, the immense Navy Blue commences, an ode to the brutality and insignificance of life, questioning society, personal accountability, and art, accompanied by Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Concerto and the dark soundtrack by Jamie xx.
FR Oona Doherty, danseuse et chorégraphe irlandaise, qui représente comme nulle autre l’émergence d’une scène de danse contemporaine en Irlande et Irlande du Nord, vient à Luxembourg avec deux spectacles phares, le solo énergique Hope Hunt and the Ascension into Lazarus et sa pièce pour douze danseurs et danseuses Navy Blue.
Hope Hunt évolue entre les frontières du théâtre physique, de la proclamation sociale et de la danse. La performeuse s’y transforme en différents personnages par le biais de la parole, du mouvement et des sons, et emmène le public sur les chemins oubliés de sa mémoire. Navy Blue utilise la danse classique comme terrain de jeu d’une violente spirale, pour évoquer la problématique de la liberté et de l’unisson.
DE Für den Tanzschwerpunkt im Dezember und ihr erstes Programm an den Théâtres de la Ville hat die außergewöhnliche Choreografin Oona Doherty gleich zwei Stücke ausgesucht. Das mehrfach preisgekrönte Hope Hunt and the Ascension into Lazarus beginnt mit einer Tänzerin, die über eine halbe Stunde Elemente männlicher Körpersprache vorführt und zerlegt. Nach einem DJ-Zwischenspiel im Foyer folgt das kontrastreiche zweite Stück, Navy Blue. Zwölf TänzerInnen setzen sich darin zu Musik von Rachmaninow und Jamie xx mit dem Ballett und seinen Formen auseinander, zerstören diese geradezu, um am Ende eine gemeinsame Wiederauferstehung zu feiern.
