Spring Awakenings follows a cohort of adolescents as they grapple with the complexities of burgeoning sexuality in a society teetering between information overload and a call for structure. Originally penned in 1891, Frank Wedekind’s seminal play – which director Anne Simon and writer-dramaturg Antoine Pohu use as a framework – was deemed too audacious to be performed until 1906, after which it was repeatedly censored.

Join Chien-Ming Chang (Rehearsal Director: Shechter II) for this workshop exploring Hofesh Shechter’s distinctive movement style. The workshop will include a warm-up, followed by learning a short phrase of movement from Shechter’s Theatre of Dreams. The session will round up with a short Q&A.

Nach Ella Roads Die Laborantin in der Spielzeit 22·23 inszeniert Fábio Godinho zum zweiten Mal eine Koproduktion mit dem Staatstheater Mainz. Nancy Harris’ Leuchtfeuer, das vordergründig als Krimi gestaltet ist, liest der Regisseur als Reflexion über das Verhältnis zwischen Kunst und Natur.

Zum ersten Mal inszeniert der multidisziplinäre Künstler Filip Markiewicz an den Théâtres de la Ville. In seiner zeitgenössischen Adaptation von Sophoklesʼ Elektra kämpft die Heldin inmitten einer sich immer schneller drehenden Welt mit den ewigen Fragen von Leben und Tod. Elektra ist bei Markiewicz eine erfolgreiche Künstlerin, die von der Ermordung ihres Vaters und den Folgen ihres eigenen Handelns heimgesucht wird.

They will introduce principles of Theatre Re’s ethos through games, improvisational exercises and ensemble work. The final part of the workshop will allow for participants to “compose” their own movement score using all of the vocabulary and skills that was shared with them. This workshop will equip participants with a set of tools and reflexes that they will later be able to apply to their own projects.
