EN The avant-garde work of Samoan director, designer and choreographer Lemi Ponifasio is the focus of the third red bridge project. After opening with Ponifasio’s سدقلJerusalem, the project continues with Love to Death. Ponifasio created this new piece with MAU Mapuche – the company he founded in Chile in 2015 - in response to the aftermath of the shooting of Camilo Catrillanca, a 24-year-old former Mapuche student and farmer. The work transcends conventional ideas of theatre, dance and activism and raises topics such as the reality of the Mapuche people, the relationship between people and nature, the ”female being“ and the balance of power. Two women, Mapuche singer-composer Elisa Avendaño Curaqueo and contemporary flamenco dancer Natalia García-Huidobro, perform in a work that reflects both the country’s history and the search for its future.
FR Lemi Ponifasio, metteur en scène, concepteur et chorégraphe samoan invité du red bridge project, part de l’histoire et de ses propres racines pour aborder le théâtre et la danse contemporaine d’une manière radicalement novatrice et non conventionnelle. Dans Love to Death, il réunit sur scène deux femmes, la musicienne, compositrice et femme savante mapuche Elisa Avendaño Curaqueo, et la danseuse de flamenco, directrice d’une compagnie de danse interdisciplinaire, Natalia García-Huidobro, qui nous parlent de leurs mondes, et en même temps de l’histoire et du futur du Chili, à travers leurs corps et leurs expériences personnelles. Conçu avec la plateforme chilienne de réflexion critique, MAU Mapuche, suite à l’assassinat du militant mapuche Camilo Catrillanca, Love to Death touche à des thèmes tels que la réalité de la vie du peuple mapuche, la relation entre l’homme et la nature et entre les sexes, ainsi que les questions d’identité et de destin.
DE Lemi Ponifasios Love to Death bringt zwei chilenische Künstlerinnen zusammen: die Sängerin und Mapuche-Komponistin Elisa Avendaño Curaqueo und die Flamenco-Tänzerin Natalia García-Huidobro. Stimmen und Körper verweben sich in einer Zeremonie und enthüllen Lebensgeschichten, die die Vergangenheit Chiles ebenso wie die Suche nach seiner Zukunft widerspiegeln. Auslöser für das Stück war die Ermordung des Mapuche-Aktivisten Camilo Catrillanca. Ponifasio berührt Themen wie die Lebenswirklichkeit des Mapuche-Volks, die Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Natur und den Geschlechtern sowie Fragen nach Identität und Schicksal. Diese Arbeit der Kompanie MAU Mapuche, die der Choreograf 2015 gegründet hat, sprengt konventionelle Vorstellungen von Theater, Tanz und Aktivismus.
