A border is a line that birds can not see de Kieron Jina (porteur de projet TalentLAB 2022)
A border is a line that birds can not see is a site-specific storytelling performance that explores the concept of being nomadic and the rhythm of constant movement. The interdisciplinary performance is a fusion of spoken word, auto-ethnographic research, oration text, dance, and music that takes the audience on a journey into the world of nomads. The artistic focus of Kieron Jina is a “professional troublemaker” that moves between post-colonial historiography and queer storytelling – always with an activist approach and in search of empathy and shared experiences. Jina combines costumes and practices with Afrofuturistic and cultural elements to create new perspectives. He consciously involves viewers in his pieces and uses his body to roam through culture and history with them. He invites Yogin Sullaphen and Jade Bowers to skilfully shift and transform the performance.
A Reason for Falling de Hwa Wei-An (porteur de projet TalentLAB 2021)
A Reason for Falling is an exploration of the possibilities that exist between a loss of balance and a meeting with the ground. It is a look at what happens when we let go of control, give in to gravity, and embrace the experience of a fall. This work is inspired by the experience of watching freeriding, the practice of riding down uncurated mountain faces on bikes, snowboards or skis. It is one dancer’s way of translating these practices from vast, open terrains onto the flat, safe space of the dance floor, and to pursue possibility, wonder, and joy.
FISTS TO FLOWERS de Yotam Peled & the Free Radicals (porteur de projet TalentLAB 2019)
FISTS TO FLOWERS deconstructs and weaves together practices originating from contemporary dance, wrestling and boxing. It uses stage as an arena: a space which questions pain through a journey between extreme resistance and surrender. Like waves hitting a rocky shore, the four performers continuously collide, attach and detach, blurring between the personal and the collective. In this realm, the intense encounter of their bodies seems to be a search for intimacy and closeness, a space for confession which can be sensitive and playful. Throughout the performance highly physical, rhythmical sequences emerge, eventually leading to exhaustion and newfound vulnerability. This constant, unresolved movement of softening and hardening invites us to explore and reimagine the connection we have with our own body.
