An evening with Aslı Erdoğan
For the start of the season at the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg the Belgium stage director Luk Perceval and Turkish writer Aslı Erdoğan add a philosophical dimension to Mozart’s singspiel Die Entführung aus dem Serail (The Abduction from the Seraglio), free from humoristic scenes, that goes beyond oriental stereotypes.
They move the storyline into a fast-tracked, globalized world in which the contrast between Orient and Occident has long since been obliterated and nobody can find a way out of the “inner Serail”.
On the occasion of this coproduction with the Grand Théâtre de Genève and the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg and the Institute Pierre Werner present a talk on 1st October 2022 at 18:30 with the Turkish writer who lives in exile in Berlin.
In this talk preceding the opera performance, Caroline Mart (RTL) will speak with Aslı Erdoğan about her life, her literary work and her Mozart adaptation.
Free Entry but reservation recommended due to limited capacity of seats.
