[EN] A festive family outing to the Grand Théâtre is now a much-loved tradition and this year’s production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita, direct from its West End triumph, is bound to thrill all ages.

Telling the story of Eva Perón, wife of former Argentine president Juan Perón, Evita follows Eva’s journey from humble beginnings through to extraordinary wealth, power and iconic status which ultimately led her to be heralded as the “spiritual leader of the nation” by the Argentine people. Featuring some of the most iconic songs in musical theatre, including Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, On This Night of a Thousand Stars, You Must Love Me, and Another Suitcase in Another Hall, this smash hit show truly promises to be a festive treat!

[FR] Evita: un magnifique cadeau pour les fêtes de fin d’année, une excellente soirée à partager en famille ou avec des amis.

Evita, c’est l'histoire d'Eva Perón, l’épouse de l’ancien président argentin Juan Perón. La comédie musicale suit le parcours d’Eva depuis ses humbles débuts jusqu’à cette richesse, ce pouvoir et ce statut iconique extraordinaires qui ont fait qu’elle a pu être considérée par les Argentins comme le «chef spirituel de la nation». Jusqu’à la sainteté?

Avec plus de 20 récompenses majeures à son actif, dont la version cinématographique primée par les Oscars avec Madonna et Antonio Banderas, avec l’un des rôles les plus convoités dans le théâtre musical, avec quelques-unes des chansons les plus emblématiques de ce théâtre musical – Don’t cry for me Argentina, par exemple – cette production promet vraiment d’être l’événement bienvenu de la fin de l’année au Grand Théâtre.

[DE] Am 26. Juli 1952 starb Eva Duarte de Perón, die zweite Frau des argentinischen Präsidenten Juan Perón, im Alter von nur 33 Jahren an Krebs. Sicher hat auch ihr früher Tod dazu beigetragen, dass „Evita“, wie sie genannt wurde, zur Legende geworden ist. Zu Lebzeiten wurde die Schauspielerin, die ihren Beruf zugunsten der Karriere ihres Mannes aufgab, von ihren Gegnern gehasst, von ihren Anhängern leidenschaftlich verehrt – insbesondere wegen ihres wohltätigen Einsatzes für Arme und Kranke. Sie war es auch, die den argentinischen Frauen das Wahlrecht ermöglichte.

Mit ihrem Musical haben der Komponist Andrew Lloyd Webber und der Texter Tim Rice „Evita“ ein Denkmal gesetzt. 1976 auf Schallplatte veröffentlicht, 1978 uraufgeführt, gehört das Stück mit Titeln wie Don’t Cry For Me, Argentina zu den erfolgreichsten Musicals überhaupt. Jetzt geht die Produktion von Bill Kenwright auf Tournee – und kommt über die Feiertage zum Jahresende auch nach Luxemburg. Zur Vorstellung am 31. Dezember gibt es im Foyer das traditionelle Silvesteressen.
