[en] Among the illustrious choreographers to have visited the Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg over the years, one can certainly count Jirí Kylián, responsible for some of Nederlands Dans Theater's most magical moments. For Last Touch First, he joins forces with master of improvisation Michael Schumacher and dancer Sabine Kupferberg, before returning for Nederlands Dans Theater's jubilee celebrations in 2010.

This incredibly moving ensemble piece, which premiered to great public and critical acclaim at the Holland Dance Festival in 2008, attempts to reimagine Kylián's earlier project Last Touch which he created in 2003. With slow motion technique and 19th century costumes and scenery, this intimate and gripping piece focuses on six characters and their desperation, madness and loneliness.

Ce mariage d'une chorégraphie écrite du maître Jirí Kylián avec les espaces d'improvisation de Schumacher et de Kupferberg construits tel un policier au ralenti évoque l'atmosphère d'un roman d'Anton Tchékhov. C'est beau, irritant, bizarre et dramatique à la fois. Une soirée qui, à elle seule, pourrait ouvrir une nouvelle page dans l'histoire de la danse contemporaine.
